File Investigator Supported File Formats
The MS Windows, UNIX, Linux & Macintosh products support 4,620 file formats, using databases totaling 6,148 patterns/format variations.  You can view a list of them by:

Accuracy (A) The level of accuracy possible in File Investigator for each file format:
High 99%: Identified by scanning the file for multiple signatures and data
Medium 90%: Identified by matching the file header, or internal signature, to a pattern
Low 75%: Identified by matching the file extension
Description Name used to identify a file format
File Extensions List of the valid file extensions used
File Extension Wildcards
? Indicates a space that can be any character
n Indicates a space that can be any number, 0-9
* Indicates an extension that can be anything
